Born and raised in Springfield, Nebraska, Mike has been a nationally certified LMT for nearly 15 years, has recently attained a double major in history and political science, then acquired his initial teaching certification for secondary Social Studies. He maintains a passion for politics and preparing future generations of voters on how to engage with their political processes and to help empower them to be the change we need.

 

Mike has been involved in his local county Democratic Party in Lincoln since 2019 when he travelled to numerous campaign events around Iowa and Omaha to grab the signatures of 13 Democratic Presidential candidates on a county party T-shirt for an upcoming silent auction. He got involved at the state level shortly after, becoming first the male alternate then the male delegate for his legislative district on the Nebraska Democratic Party Central Committee.

In 2022 Mike took over as Chair of the Nebraska Stonewall Democrats after a short stint as Vice-Chair and has since been working to grow the caucus by creating fundraisers, engaging with the community, as well as connecting with other Stonewall chapters across the country. The Nebraska Stonewall Democrats kick off their season with their annual Lavender Gala fundraiser around the beginning of June, then along with various pride events across the state over the summer they will also host their own version of Gays Eating Garlic Bread in the Park. They will then end out the year's events with their Stonewall BoneBall fundraiser during queer history month. It is the hope of the caucus that the BoneBall will eventually help to fund a future Queer Candidates Fund through the Nebraska Democratic Party. Mike is excited to continue to bring his energy and talents to the National Federation of Stonewall Democrats!
